Four Ways of Decorating Your Living Room for Christmas

Decorating your home for Christmas is not only a necessity but is also a funny and enjoyable activity which makes you feel great and makes you enter the Christmas atmosphere in a nice way.
If your living room is not ready yet and you still have not got any ideas for the style you want to adopt, here are some ideas for you. It depends on your tastes and preferences the way you choose your decorations and the combinations of colors. The first example refers to a living room where the combination of orange and some turquoise accents is smashing. For those who love these colors and would like to attract the attention and create a colorful environment is a nice option.
Those who like sparkling ambiances and are more fashionable perhaps will choose a living room interior design based on golden ornaments. the shiny, golden Christmas tree and the magic and warm created by the fireplace will make of this living room a charming place which will remind you of those old Christmas times when people set around their fireplace and enjoying the beauty of this holiday.
There is also a sweet variant of a living room interior design based on the combination of white and pink. Girls are usually enchanted by these sweet accents. If you add a little bit of pink on your coach, a pink ribbon for the wreath or use some pink Christmas balls for some small white feather trees, you may get a sweet room as a Christmas candy.
Those who have already a red living room interior can play with some other red items which can complete their traditional scheme of colors.

Lenox Flight Collection Modern Dish

I am not a huge fan o vintage items, but every once in a while I dare visit one or two vintage shops in order to see if there is anything unusual or that catches my attention. And sometimes I do. For example now I have just visited this virtual vintage shop – Etsy – where you can find many unique things. ANd I found this amazing item – the Lenox Flight Collection Modern Dish. Apparently the dish is no longer manufactured, so you can find it only in vintage shops, but I can tell you it is worth the trouble.
This item is a kind of an interestingly shaped porcelain dish that has a very nice and shiny 22 K gold trim. It is totally white and with irregular margins and that allows you to use it for different purposes. You can use it as a serving dish and in this case you can place fruit, cakes and some other similar items on it.
Or maybe you can use it as an ashtray and in this case the smokers will find the two side “wings” really useful, as you can rest the cigarettes there. You can keep the candy there or maybe the change in your pockets or you can give it any use you can think of. It is nice , delicate and beautiful and you can have it for just $15.

Brush Vase

If you paint at least once in a while for fun or just for helping your kids with his Art project then you know you keep all the brushes in one place, usually a glass that is specially reserved for the brushes. This way you know where to look for them next time you want to paint. But the designer Harry Allen had an even better idea: you don’t you keep the paint brushes in a glass that tells you what you should store in? That is because this special glass is made of many models of paint brushes glued together. He used Resin and Marble to make this project and obtain a great result in my opinion.
But because painting is not so ordinary the designer thought it would be a good idea to give this item another use, too, so he inserted a normal glass inside. That is for the case when you want to use the paint brush holder as a Brush Vase, so the glass will keep the water inside. It is an unusual flower vase, but it is at least interesting. It is not very big, but just the right size for holding normal flower bunches. You can purchase the vase now from Areaware for $75.

Double X Metal Vase

We all have a small holiday for Christmas and this is the time when we spend more time at home, especially in the living room. And we all want to make out homes as nice as beautiful, so we pay much attention to accessories because they are, after all, the ones that give your house personality and style. This Double X Metal Vase from Modani is great because it can be used as an accessory in itself, without having to fill it with flowers. It looks like an over sized metallic X sign that stands on your living room coffee table.
The vase is made of polished stainless steel and is empty on the inside, so you can fill it with water and keep flowers there. My advice is to use mainly simple flowers with a small number of leaves because they are better valued if they look this way. And they will not cover the vase, which looks amazing and should not be overlooked. So fill this futuristic vase with exotic flowers and enjoy its look by placing it somewhere in the center of the room, like the mantlepiece or the table or even on some lower shelves. The item is available now in the Modani online store for $39.

Bauhinja Marble Vase

People have discovered marble since the most ancient times. Romans used marble for carving the most amazing sculptures and statues and also they used it for luxury bathrooms and pools. Marble still is a very precious and beautiful material and you can use it for obtaining very nice accessories for your home. But when you say marble you expect a statue or something bigger, not this amazing Bauhinja Marble Vase. However, this does not make it any less valuable and artistic, beautiful and graceful.
This interesting vase is, obviously, made of marble and carved by hand has some harmonious curves that make it look like a flower bud. The petals are on the outside, protecting the little space inside that will be filled with water and used as a flower vase. Any way, you can use this vase as a decorative accessory by itself, as it looks great on a black mahogany table or a a dark bookshelf and even on a nice mantlepiece. With or without flowers, this vase is still very eye-catching and you can now order it for $200. It is not big (35cm x 15cm x 15cm) but big enough to draw attention and bring a special feature to the overall design of the room it is placed in.

The Fabbrica Restaurant in Bergen

This is Restaurant Fabricca, an unusual structure located in Bergen, the second largest city in Norway. The restaurant is very cozy and, even though the interior is unusual and not the traditional typical décor, it’s still elegant and stylish but in a different way.
The elevated dining pods of the restaurant are very cozy and especially inviting, offering a unique dining experience to anyone who enters. The second you enter the restaurant you get a strange feeling that takes you back in time. There’s a huge amount of wood involved in this project. Notice the walls that are covered with tree stumps. The furniture is also made of wood and this contributes to the cozy atmosphere inside.
The restaurant features tall ceilings and lots of windows but only on the façade. The interior is rather intimate, despite the dimensions. It’s decorated with delicate chandeliers and glass stemware designed by Tjep Studio, an Amsterdam-based architecture and design firm.
There’s also a large pizza oven decorated with Bisazza tile mosaic and geometrical industrial containers sit near the oven holding the wood. It might not be a very sophisticated restaurant but its this unpolished beauty that makes it unique. It’s simple and authentic. It’s also a very inviting and cozy place where gusts can feel comfortable while enjoying their favorite food.

The Beauty of Checkered Floors

I guess everybody knows how a chess table looks like. Its checkered design reminds me of my childhood summer holidays when I used to play chess with my uncle who taught me this game or with my brother. They were in love with this game and they still are but I am not so found of it anymore. It is a static game which acquires a lot of thinking, good strategy and a lot of patience. Lately I became a more dynamic person, I like to solve things quickly but I still have a lot of patience.
Perhaps these checkered floors have the same effects on you too if it happens that you love chess. They resemble a chess table and although may take you with the think of a classic interior they prove to be perfect for modern interiors too. Decorati Designer Potofolios presents some examples which may inspire you and give you new ideas for your interior designs.
These beautiful and elegant checkered tiles preserve the classic combination of colors of black and white but they also combine other colors like blue and white or beige and white. There are also seen those perfect squares which can be found in various sizes, big or small that create a playful ambiance too.
Although you may think that these checkered floors can be seen only on the hall or used for a party space they are used for different spaces like kitchens, living rooms, bathrooms interior halls or even wine cellars. Usually they appear to complete the symmetry of colors used all around the space and create a totally different atmosphere compared to the use of other type of floors. Still, their classic appearance and the elegant combination of colors make of them a perfect choice for any type of interior and especially for those who love chess

Seasonal white interior design

White interior decors are actually very common. Nevertheless, they tend to seem more striking during this particular time of the year. When everything is white and snowy outside, it’s much easier to notice the resemblance with the interior in cases like this one. This particular interior design is very interesting not only because of the huge amount of white in there but also because of the way everything else seems to complement the house and the way the other colors stand out.
Usually we use white when we either have a small home and we want to make it seem bigger or when we simply want to have an airy and bright interior décor. In this case it’s probably both reasons. Notice how all the rooms have white walls and ceilings. This creates uniformity throughout the house and makes all the room seem so airy and spacious. That’s not only because of the colors but also because the furniture is minimalist and features pale colors such as grey or natural brown.
I love the way the interior of this house reminds me of a black and white movie but with small insertions of color. Also, it’s interesting how the designer incorporated natural elements inside without using clichés. There aren’t any fresh plants in there but only dead trees or leafless plants.

The Beauty of Swedish Fireplaces

Fireplaces are one of the most popular and beautiful decorations and they can be seen all over the world. Lately modern designs have been created and now fireplaces can be used both indoors and outdoors. Still, these designs had as a starting point the traditional models.
Traditional fireplaces can further be divided into several different categories according to the style or region they can be found in. We’re now going to analyze more closely a series of Swedish fireplaces and see what distinguishes them for all the other ones.
The pictures shown here have been taken in apartments and private homes and they present original fireplace designs. Scandinavian fireplaces could be described as simple and chic. Typical Swedish fireplaces usually resemble a column. The shape is very simple. It’s basically a round chimney pipe and it’s usually white. The furnace always presents two small folding doors and the top of the fireplace almost always features a crown, in the spirit of the Scandinavian monarchies traditions.
Other traditional Swedish fireplace designs include brick structures usually with veneer tiles. There are also fire-domes. Most often these are decorated with stucco and they are usually placed in corners. And, of course, there are some more modern fireplace designs. These are actually large metal stoves or factory fireplaces. They are always black and they have a closed combustion chamber. They are made of steel and/or iron and they can sometimes be electric. This type of fireplaces is also common in Russia.
And last, but not least, European classics. These fireplaces, such as English and French models, are relatively rare in Sweden. Still, they can be found in that area too. And in case such a design is chosen, the owner almost always chooses the most simple and concise finish.

The Italian Touch of Café B from New York

The way we choose the places where we would like to spend our free time depends sometimes on the ambiance they owe. We may choose a select club for its privacy and intimate ambiance or a rustic restaurant for its specific rustic style and atmosphere. Sometimes these relaxing places can make us feel that we are in a different corner of the world or maybe we travel to some other old times. Their interior design represents the main ingredient which can make us feel like this.
It is also the case of Café B from New York which can make you feel the Italian touch of an old Italy. This cultural and elegant atmosphere is the result of the Italian designer Federico Delrosso‘s work who wanted to recreate the atmosphere of Café Milan and that of old times in Italy. The structure of this café consists of two parts: the main area of 230 sq ft facility is located in the lobby of the Hotel Indigo, and the additional (154 sq ft), called Sky B, – on the roof of the 18-storey skyscraper. It is a place which combines refinement, elegance and culture.
For example you may notice the use of some aluminum chairs in Café Sky B which are part of the author’s collection Contamina Federico Delrosso or the collection of black and white photos which appear on the walls of the café. The wallpapers that simulate high bookshelves create that intimate and relaxing atmosphere while the use of glass panels offer you the chance to admire the beauty of New York skyscrapers and the dynamic and modern life of this agitated city. Here you will definitely enjoy your nice coffe or a delicious meal taking advantage of this lovely ambiance.
